Day 20

Some form practice, not official, but it is always a fun exercise to do.
I wish my scanner picked out the construction better though, these are always better to look at with those construction lines.

If anyone doesn't know about IDsketching.com , you have to at least check out this video:
http://www.idsketching.com/video/video-tutorial-how-to-sketch-with-contour-lines/

After two terms in school, going through all the training, I found this video couple months ago, and it helped my sketches so much, its incredible.

Hopefully I will get some more sketches tonight.

Delay!

Hey guys, I am so sorry that there has not yet been any work up in the past 2 days, I don't think I can get any until Sunday. It is midterm next week at school, and the amount of mockup I need to do is incredible..

last sketch of the day.

Day 16 continued again

Day 16 continued.

Day 16

Day 15

I was really excited to go back to analog sketching, since the tablet practice week is put into rest for awhile. Then I discovered that I have zero inspiration and motivation to draw anything. It took about 20-30 pages of pilot fineliner sketches (i just bought the pen today), until I decided, screw it, I am not at the level where I can draw everything without construction line...

So I decided to go back to one of my personal favourite: verithin

The original looked a bit different, because I changed the level in photoshop. If anyone know how to make your sketches look nice after scanning, please let me know.

The long day 14 continued.

The long day 14

I am about to die from sketching.. drawing vehicles suck and that is why I am not going to major transportation ever.

Day 10

Day 9

I think I am starting to find a size and setting that I like to sketch at for more organic shapes. This week's theme is aliens, animals, and massive transportation vehicles. So expect some more weird stuff!

Time: 1 hour or more
Tools: Intuos 4 and CS4

Day 8 part 2

I really should go to sleep... anyways, I find drawing organic, soft-goods alot easier to start with just to get the feel of the pen.

Time: I don't even know
Tools: Intuos 4 and CS4

Day 8

As I have mentioned before, all my stuff now will focus on digital sketching since that is what I need to really practice in order to get somewhat of a good grade.

I am extremely sorry for the ugliness of these, but I promise I will make them look visually appealing as soon as possible.

This could be considered the first ever sketch done with my tablet, I have only done simple painting/rendering before this.

Time: I don't even know anymore
Tools: Intuos 4 and CS4

Day 7 Week 1 Complete!

It is starting to feel a little bit unispiring, can't come up with sketches. I think from now on, I will be doing alot of tablet practices, since that is going to be what I am doing in class. This week will be the first week that I start using tablet to sketch.

A little follow up on the bug.

Day 6 part 2

Going to continue my material renderings, the assignment is a bug, so I did a quick sketch of how this might work out.

Time: 15-20min
Tools: ballpoint pen, Copic marker
Paper:printer paper

Day 6

My morning class today got canceled, so I had a chance to sketch something in the morning (the last drawing). I would say, I went a little bit too sketchy, and my cheap scanner didn't pick up that well. I will try to re-do a better one later on.

The first 3 are a practice of rendering matte and glossy plastic.

Time: 20 min, 2 hours +
Tools: Prisma Verithin, Prismacolor pencil, Copic marker, white pen
Paper: printer paper, Letraset marker paper

Day 5

Generally, I will sketch more during my classes than on weekends. Weekends are just overloaded with homework.
Again, these are done with ballpoint pen. I am starting to notice alot of perspective issues.

Also, I want to thank the few people who followed this blog, I hope to gain more followers in the future. I am not a professional designer yet, but I hope to achieve a higher standard by drawing everyday; and you guys really help to keep me going.

Time: 35-45min each
Tools: ballpoint pen
Paper: printer paper

Day 4

Although this sketch took about 30 min, the time taken to get to this particular sketch was about an hour. At first, I tried to make myself draw looser by using a Hi-Tec C, which was a complete fail, it is hard to transition from ballpoint to hi-tec c for me atm. In addition, I tried to do objects with many many ellipses. Waterbottle into watches into pencil sharpener. Finally, I realized how I need to get back to my school work, I just drew a bag.

Time: 30 min
Tools: ballpoint pen, Copic marker
Paper: printer paper

apparently, orange does not scan very well with my scanner.

Day 3

This is an extra sketch I did for a project I am working on atm. This particular idea had to do with a device that locks onto a seatbelt of a car.

Time: 30-40min
Tools: ballpoint pen, Copic marker, Prisma Verithin
Paper: printer paper

Day 2

Okay, this is a fairly quick sketch, mainly because I woke up trying to sketch, and just couldn't get it going. Then I decided to just draw something more technical.

Time: 25-30min
Tools: ballpoint pen, Copic marker
Paper: printer paper
